Dynamic Maths

• Nat5applications-noncalc: mixed non-calculator practice questions for National 5 Applications of Mathematics (significantly updated July 2021 to better reflect the standard and topics included in past exam papers)

Ratio and Proportion

• Proportion-01: simplify a ratio (option to decide the difficulty of simplification, whether to allow ratios that are already in their simplest form, and whether to allow three-part ratios)

Rounding

• Rounding-03: rounding whole numbers and decimals to a given number of significant figures (option to vary length of original number, and how many significant figures may be required)

Interpreting Graphs and Tables

• Interpreting Graphs and Tables (PDF worksheet, not adaptable): a variety of questions on interpreting non-routine graphs. All graphs are taken from past SQA exam papers, and a variety of new questions are asked for each that interleave other topics including fractions and percentages.

Wages

• Money-02: calculate tax and/or National Insurance when given salary, tax rates and personal allowance (options to decide whether to use standard UK tax rates or random ones; whether to include National Insurance, and whether to allow monthly figures to be used as well as annual)
• Money-03: complete more complicated wageslips, including potential calculation of overtime, commission, tax, National Insurance and pension as well as gross pay and net pay (option to decide whether to calculate (as opposed to just being given) each of overtime, commission, tax, National Insurance and pension)
• National Insurance and Net Pay (PDF worksheet, not adaptable): questions adapted from past SQA exam net pay and National Insurance questions, with names and numbers altered

Interest

• Percentages-06: compound interest (options to vary difficulty of percentage, number of years, size of initial amount, whether to allow months as well as years, and whether question is asking for bank balance or interest)

Median and Quartiles

• Statistics-01: Median, quartiles and five-figure summary (option to decide whether or not data is already ordered)
• Statistics-07: Median, quartiles and interquartile range (option to decide whether or not data is already ordered) For National 5, be sure to ensure that InterQuartile range option is selected rather than Semi InterQuartile range
• Quartile solver: you input a data set, and the spreadsheet works out the median, quartiles and the interquartile range

Standard Deviation

• Statistics-02: Standard deviation
• Standard Deviation solver: you input a data set, and the spreadsheet works out the standard deviation, and all associated quantities - helps with checking working

Units of Measure

• Converting Units of Measure (PDF worksheet, not adaptable): three sections. Section A covers basic conversion between units out of context. Section B includes conversions in context, including some questions that interleave other areas of the course. Section C covers conversion of units of speed
• Measure-02: convert from one unit to another (option to choose difficulty of multiplication/division involved; and to choose exactly which unit conversions you want to include: choose from m-cm, mm-cm, m-km, m-mm, g-kg, kg-t, ml-l, l-cm³, cm²-mm², m²-cm². Sheets can be made to focus on just one conversion (e.g. grams/kilograms) or to mix them up in whichever combination you choose)
• Reading Measuring Scales (PDF worksheet, not adaptable): using measuring scales, questions mostly adapted from past SQA exam questions

Container Packing

• Container Packing (PDF worksheet, not adaptable): two sections plus an answer sheet at the end. Section A covers questions consistent with most past SQA exam questions, where there are two possible alignments for the smaller boxes. Section B includes some more complex packing scenarios.

Tolerance

• Measure-05: tolerance - identify maximum/minimum values (option to choose exactly which units to include, whether to allow decimal values, and whether to allow tolerances expressed as percentages)
• Measure-06: tolerance - identify which out of a list of values are within the given range (option to choose exactly which units to include, whether to allow decimal values, and whether to allow tolerances expressed as percentages) Note - the mistake with answers not being completely correct should now have been corrected (May 2022). Speed, Distance and Time

• Time-05: Time as a decimal (e.g. change 2·08 hours into hours and minutes, or change 2 hours 5 minutes into hours) (options to choose which direction to convert in, how many decimal places, and which units are included [hours/minutes, minutes/seconds, days/hours, years/months, weeks/days])
• Time-06: Changing hours (as a decimal) into hours, minutes and seconds (options to choose which direction to convert in and how many decimal places)
