Who we are

Dynamic Maths is the trading name of David Watkins, a sole trader supplying free and paid-for materials to secondary maths teachers in Scotland. The records kept and maintained are solely for the administration of the business and will never be shared with other organisations or businesses.

• your legal rights relating to your personal data.

Types of data we collect

Purchasing Data

When you purchase revision notes or prelims from us, we will store the following information in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet which is securely held. Prior customers may be emailed by us in the future (see "Email Lists" section), unless you have opted out.

Please be assured this data will never be shared with any other company or organisation without your consent. This data is held indefinitely as a record that you have purchased a licence for the notes. The data can be used as proof of purchase to re-supply a copy of previously purchased notes for free. Data held includes:

• Date of Purchase;
• Items for which licence was purchased (i.e. which product you purchased);
• Email address supplied when purchase made;
• Name of organisation (or name of single user) supplied when purchase was made

Postal and Email Mailing Lists

We only send marketing letters or emails to secondary schools or colleges. When sending emails we use the bcc field to ensure other recipients can't access your details. We do not send any marketing emails to private individuals unless you have explicitly opted in to our mailing list.

We maintain a spreadsheet listing all secondary schools and colleges in Scotland which we use for occasional email or postal mailings about our products. This list is kept in Microsoft Excel format and will never be shared with any other organisations. The list includes the following information:

• The name of every secondary school and Further Education College in Scotland;
• The postal address of each school/college, as listed on the school/college website;
• The name, job title and (where consent has been obtained - see below) email address of the member of staff in charge of maths courses (i.e. Principal Teacher or Head of Maths) at the institution;
• If you do not want us to use this address to email you, you can inform us by emailing our data protection officer David Watkins at david@dynamicmaths.co.uk .
• The generic (public) email address of the main office of the school or college, as listed on the school/college website.
• Whether there has been an explicit request to opt-out of communications (this information is kept to ensure the address is never re-subscribed accidentally).

Email Lists

We sometimes email all customers who have previously purchased from us. This may be for a number of reasons: to inform you of a new product (these emails will be sent to schools/colleges only, not private individuals); to inform you of a mistake with a previously purchased product (and to re-send you a new version for free) or to ask your opinions. We don't rent or trade email lists with any other organisation or business. When sending emails we use the bcc field to ensure other recipients can't access your details. You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time by replying to the email asking to be removed or by emailing our data protection officer David Watkins at david@dynamicmaths.co.uk .

Where an email address has been provided by a customer who purchased a product, then in line with the Direct Marketing Guidance from the Information Commissioner's Office (see paragraph 131), we will assume implied consent via a "soft opt-in" for occasional marketing emails for similar products or services (revision notes or prelims). This will be explicitly stated un the email when the products are supplied to you, along with instructions on how to opt-out (emailing our data protection officer David Watkins at david@dynamicmaths.co.uk); and this will be explicitly re-stated in all subsequent emails.

We also maintain an opt-in email list for people who would like to be kept up to date on our new products. We use a third-party provider, MailChimp, to deliver our newsletter. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter. For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice. You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails or by emailing our data protection officer David Watkins at david@dynamicmaths.co.uk .

We have been informed by the Information Commissioner's Office (in line with the Direct Marketing Guidance from the Information Commissioner's Office (see paragraph 145)) that it is acceptable to email personal corporate email addresses (i.e. personal school emails) without prior consent (subject to the absolute right for any recipient to opt-out). However at this stage we will not exercise this right, and will instead only send marketing emails as described above (to those who have either directly opted in; or who have done a 'soft opt-in' by purchasing a product.

Mailings will be occasionally sent to school/college offices with a request to forward these to the Head of Maths. This is in line with the Direct Marketing Guidance from the Information Commissioner's Office (paragraphs 142-145) which states that business-to-business mailings are not subject to the requirement for prior consent. We leave the choice of whether to forward the email to the school/college office staff, and respect the right of the school/college office to choose whether or not to forward these emails.

Website Cookies

Dynamic Maths does not use any of their own cookies to collect information; however some items of our website are links to social media sites, using standard code from the sites. These codes sometimes include cookies related to that site. These include:

• on every page of our website is a Facebook ‘like’ button that allows users to ‘like’ us on Facebook. The code for this button is supplied and managed by Facebook and includes a cookie from Facebook.
• on every page of our website is a Twitter ‘follow’ button that allows users to ‘follow’ our Twitter page. The code for this button is supplied and managed by Twitter and includes one cookie that provides statistics to Twitter.
• Our online store is run via PayPal and the objects involved in this contain a cookie from PayPal.
• The homepage of our website includes an embedded YouTube video that demonstrates how to use our worksheets. The frame containing this video includes four cookies from YouTube that track location, bandwidth and what videos you have seen.

Access to your personal information

You are entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information that we hold. Email your request to our data protection officer David Watkins at david@dynamicmaths.co.uk .
